About the platform
What does Remedia actually do?
Remedia generates structured pre-marking for student exam responses, anchored to the official mark scheme. You import the question paper and mark scheme, collect student submissions, and Remedia produces a pre-marked view of each student's work, question by question. Every mark is yours to review, override, or annotate before any student sees it.
Does Remedia replace the teacher's professional judgement?
No. Remedia generates pre-marking. Every mark must be reviewed and confirmed or overridden by the teacher before it is released. Nothing is auto-released. The teacher's professional judgement is the final word on every mark, every time.
How is Remedia different from asking ChatGPT to mark a student's work?
Generic AI tools have no access to your mark scheme. They generate general feedback about a student's answer. Remedia's pre-marking is anchored to the specific credit points in the official mark scheme you imported. Every suggestion maps to a real criterion. Additionally, handwritten responses are processed natively, and the entire workflow has a teacher review layer built in before any output reaches the student.
Does it handle handwritten answers?
Yes. Students can photograph their handwritten answer sheets using their phone and submit via QR code. Alternatively, teachers can scan the class set and upload on their behalf. Both typed and handwritten responses go through the same pre-marking pipeline.
Coverage and qualifications
Which subjects are live now?
Biology is fully live across Cambridge International, Pearson Edexcel, AQA and OCR. English Language and Business Studies have been selected for development. Other subjects including Chemistry, Physics, History, Maths and Geography are on the waiting list.
Does Remedia cover the full Biology paper or just some questions?
Remedia covers all written question components within supported Biology papers. Practical papers are excluded. See the Biology page for the precise list of papers supported at each level and board.
Which exam boards are supported?
Cambridge International (CIE), Pearson Edexcel, AQA and OCR. Each board is supported with board-specific marking conventions applied.
Submissions
What submission modes are available?
There are three modes. Student-led: the teacher publishes an assignment in Remedia and it appears in each student's account. The student logs in and uploads their own work directly — a typed PDF or photos of handwritten answers. No paper handling required from the teacher. Teacher individual upload: the teacher collects physical scripts, scans or photographs them into PDFs, and uploads one file per student in the submission queue, linking each to the correct student record. Well suited to small groups. Teacher bulk upload via QR: the teacher prints a cover sheet for each student (carrying their name and a unique QR code) and attaches it to their answer booklet. After collection, the teacher scans the whole class set into one PDF and uploads it. Remedia reads the QR codes, splits the document, and assigns each script to the right student automatically. All three modes produce the same pre-marked output.
Do students need an account?
Students do not need to create a platform account to submit via QR code. The QR code on the cover sheet links directly to their submission. If your school uses teacher-led uploads, students do not interact with the platform at all during the submission process.
